ABOUT
Our mission has remained the same: To help people find and follow Jesus Christ. We seek to be a church where people can experience the peace of having a relationship with Christ, the joy of belonging to a family, and the fulfillment of reaching out to the world.

Our Statement of Faith
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, without error and complete as the revelation of God's will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters to which they speak.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God the Father, as Creator of heaven and earth, is perfect in holiness, infinite wisdom, and measureless in power and love. He mercifully cares about the affairs of men, He hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God's eternal and only begotten Son who possesses the same nature, attributes and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus became in every respect a true man, possessing all the essential characteristics of human nature. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in His sinless life, His death on the cross for our sins, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and in His premillennial return from heaven to establish His Kingdom upon the earth.
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, who is co-equal and co-eternal with God. He regenerates, baptizes into the body of Christ, dwells in every believer, guides and empowers believers, provides spiritual gifts which may be used by believers to minister to the church, and seals forever those who have been born again through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that God created man, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. Due to the fall of Adam, every person is born in sin, and therefore, is a sinner by nature, having nothing whereby he might justify himself before God. Each person must accept the death of Jesus Christ, their Savior, and they are spiritually born again and are thereafter children of God and members of the family of God for time and eternity.
We believe that the Church is the spiritual body of which Jesus Christ is the Head. We believe that the true Church is comprised of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We believe that this body expresses itself in local assemblies whose members have voluntarily united together for the purposes of worship, instruction, evangelism and service. The ordinances of the local church are the believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. We also believe in the interdependence of local churches and the mutual submission of believers to each other in love. We believe that each local church is self-governing in function and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority.
We believe the Lord Jesus will return again to this earth in bodily form. We also believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and lost, the eternal existence of all people either in heaven or in hell, and in divine judgments, rewards and punishments.
SBCC was founded on September 20, 1992 by Senior Pastor Gary Shiohama and a team of only 15 people. Each week the team unpacked all of their equipment from a truck and set up church in the JCI in Gardena. In the fall of 1998, we moved into a public storage building, where we met for 12 years. When our lease ended, we began meeting in various locations across the South Bay, until God graciously blessed us with our current home on 190th St.
